Union County Library System Introduces Flipster: A New Way to Access Digital Magazines

Beginning February 1st, patrons of the Union County Library System can now access their favorite digital magazines using Flipster, an online digital magazine service that allows people to browse the latest issues of popular magazines.

In addition to the libraries’ in house magazine collection, the library has added Mental Floss, Ranger Rick, Arts and Crafts Homes, Rolling Stone, New Yorker, Girls’ Life, Woodcraft, Sports Illustrated and more in digital format with the Flipster service. Magazines can be viewed offline on the Flipster app for iPads, Android Tablets, and Kindle Fire. The free app can be downloaded by searching the iTunes app store or the Google Play Store for “Flipster.”

Flipster offers an easy, browseable reading experience. Users can look for magazines by category as well as conduct searches for specific periodicals. An online newsstand provides a carousel of the most recent issues, as well as a carousel of all issues allowing for quick access to magazines. The table of contents contains links to quickly go to articles of interest, and hotlinks within magazines are hyperlinked, opening in separate tabs when clicked. In addition, there is an option to zoom in and out for better readability.

Start reading by clicking on the Flipster icon beginning February 1st and enter your library card number.
