Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the 2020 Summer Quest program.

Register for a free stamp card, starting June 1 using the online form below.

Mark your card each time you borrow materials or attend library programs. Complete a row and earn a free book!  Special days will be designated at the library each month to turn in your card and receive a book.

Weekly virtual programs and take and make crafts are planned. Be sure to check back here or on your home library’s Facebook page for the latest happenings!

The overall goal of the program is to encourage children, tweens, teens and
adults to continue reading and learning throughout the summer.

10:30 am – 10:50 am Discover LIVE on Facebook. Join Ms. Judy for Discover time on West End Library’s Facebook Page. Discover is a preschool story time for children up to age 5 along with a parent or grandparent. This program has a weekly theme with read-aloud stories, songs and age-appropriate activities.

The Public Library for Union County Summer Quest Programs

Create fizzy fairy potions, learn how to train a dragon and MORE by joining our Facebook Group – PLUC Summer Quest 2020. S.T.E.A.M. challenges will be posted daily.

10:00 am – 11:00 am Kids in the Garden. Ms. Kim and Ms. Pat show children how to plant seeds and take care of a garden. Enjoy gardening games and activities. At the end of the summer, a kids’ garden party is held that features the vegetables that are harvested. Children can bring their own watering can if they like. Must REGISTER ONLINE

Thursday, June 18 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Take and Make Fairy Gardens. Register to pick up materials to design and create your own Fairy Garden at home. Jars, moss and pebbles will be provided. Add your own trinkets to personalize your garden! Must REGISTER ONLINE

7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Myths and Legends of the Sky – Listen to stories told about the Native American myths and legends tell the reason for day and night, why events happen in nature, the origin of the stars and other wonders of our night sky. Much of it reflects the earthy, day-to-day realities of farm life. Other targets – greed, stupidity, and pomposity – illustrate both the timeless truths and the absurdity of the human condition.
