Herr Memorial Library Expansion Breaks Ground

Local and state elected officials and community members are invited to attend the Herr Memorial Library groundbreaking on the library’s 81st anniversary, Sunday, October 18 at 3:00 pm. Enjoy light refreshments while you explore the upcoming changes during tours of the facility.

The groundbreaking marks the beginning of a renovation that will add a two-story 2,665 square foot addition to the rear of the existing building, an all-purpose meeting space, renovated basement for new programming, an elevator with access to the ground, first and second floors, additional circulation space and renovations to the sunroom.

“This is an exciting moment for the community of Mifflinburg,” said Library Director, Kelly Walter. “This renovation provides universal physical access with the addition of the elevator and allows development of additional programming and a public meeting space for the community to enjoy.”

Many local organizations, financial institutions and community members have supported this project. Contributors include: Mifflinburg Bank and Trust, Degenstein Foundation, CDBG Grant, and through a grant by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries, Department of Education, with funds provided from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund.
