Sponsorships
Library supporters—businesses, organizations, and individuals—are encouraged to sponsor library programs, collections, resources, or individual books, materials, or magazine subscriptions. These are projects that are not currently included in the operating budget—therefore they truly are enhancements. Names of sponsors will be prominently featured with the supported projects so that library customers are aware of your support.
Book Sales
Book sales and public libraries go hand in hand. These events raise funds for the library and are a fun way to add to your personal collection.

Book Donations
Herr Memorial Library: Donations are accepted during library hours. If the donation is over five boxes, please call first at 570-966-0831.
Public Library for Union County: Donations are accepted during library hours. Bring books to the loading dock at the side of the library building at 255 Reitz Blvd., Lewisburg. Please ring the doorball and someone will assist you. Call ahead at 570-523-1172 to make sure someone is available to meet you. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE BOOKS OUTDOORS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.
West End Library: Call ahead at 570-922-4773 to arrange a drop-off.
Donation Guidelines For All Libraries
The following is a guide of items we would like to have donated as well as what we are unable to use. All donations should be in good condition, clean, dry and odor-free.
We accept items of all types, but we prefer:
- Books published within the last 5 years
- Recent Bestsellers
- Copies of classic titles
- DVDs (that still play)
- Children’s books
For the health and safety of our customers, volunteers and staff we are unable to use items that are:
- Damaged
- Wet
- Moldy
- Buggy
- Have a strong odor
- Chewed
- Burnt
- Dirty
We must dispose of books that we cannot sell and this consumes much volunteer labor. So, before donating, please ask yourself, “Would I buy this book?” If not, please recycle these items yourself or through:

Help with Used Books
Volunteers are needed year round to sort and organize books. Many hands are needed prior to the Book Sale for set up, sales and clean up. Interested in helping out? Fill out a volunteer form & we’ll get in touch.

Raise the Region
The libraries of the Union County Library System have participated in the Raise the Region crowd funding event organized by the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania which takes place the second week of March. Learn more at www.RaiseTheRegion.org.
